April 2024 Letter

I must admit that I don’t think I have a favorite season… I love them all: spring, summer, autumn, and winter. Each of them contains its own beauty: spring with its abundance of flowers; summer with its preponderance of bees and butterflies; autumn with its falling leaves; and winter with its beautiful snow. If I had to lay claim to a favorite time of year, it would probably be all of those in between moments—those moments that are not quite one season or the other: the moments where change begins and the promise of something new is just around the corner.

Those are my favorite moments: when you find the first green buds of spring, or you can spot the first tinge of red on the green leaves of the tree, or when you feel that first snowflake on your forehead and you can feel the excitement of a new beginning.Because each of those moments of change are reminders that, like the seasons, our lives in Christ are always changing. We are always learning more and growing closer to Him each day as we walk with the Lord.

And just as the seasons change, I look across our parish, and I see our churches changing just like the seasons: new ministries are sprouting up; new ideas are taking shape; existing ministries and missions are opening their doors to new people; and new possibilities are taking shape on the horizon as Christ calls us to be His hands and feet and a light in the darkness in our communities.

This spring we have the wonderful opportunity to watch new things unfold: new ministries are springing up across our parish; new missions are stepping out to serve others; and new possibilities are literally on the move. One, or perhaps I should say two of those new possibilities that are on the move, are our new Five Points Parish vans ready to pick up folks around our parish and take them to worship and other church events.

These new vans, purchased with grant funds, will allow us to connect people with missions and ministries that were created for them, as well as giving people the opportunity to stay connected to worship all across our parish. Clearly, this is an exciting opportunity for us to bring people and the church together in some wonderful new ways! Stay tuned for further information. But in the meantime, if you know anyone in need of a ride or are interested in helping out as a driver, please contact the church office.
